Sri Lankan involvement in IYA2009
The IYA2009 activities will take place locally, regionally, nationally
and internationally. A National Node for Sri Lanka has been formed
to prepare activities for 2009. This Node would establish collaborations
between Lankan professional astronomers (mainly ex-pat) and
amateur astronomers, and science communicators in Lanka to prepare
activities for 2009.
Astronomical Association of Lanka (AALK) founded by Sir Arthur C. Clarke
in 1959 as the Ceylon Astronomical Association will act as the National
Node for Sri Lanka.
In this great task we are bringing together the following institutions
with astronomy related activity, to make this project a success.

National Committee of IYA2009
Prof Kavan Ratnatunga, President of AALK has been appointed as the
single point of contact by the IAU.
The National Committee for IYA2009 consists of a chairman, secretary,
and committee members. Committee members are selected as two volunteers
from each above mentioned places.
